Dallas, Texas, sadly has a dumping ground for unwanted pets. People just take pets they don’t want anymore and leave them there. Leslie Ysuhuaylas, a volunteer from The Underdog Project, knows of this place and will visit there regularly to make sure any animals left there are taken care of.
One very cold day, Leslie stopped by the dumping ground and found a dog. Leslie had left an old crate in the area as a makeshift bed. The dog she found was sitting in it.
He had a large cut on his leg, and his face was all swollen – and he was quite cold. From the look in his eyes, Leslie could tell, this dog had lost all hope.
She also knew that this dog, now being called Benny, had been living on the streets for several weeks. Benny is a Shar Pei mix, and his age is about 2 years.
Amazing how he had been living on the streets for weeks and managed to go to the one place a human was likely to find him.
As they got Benny to the car, they noticed a Chocolate lab watching from a distance. She needed help too, her name is Betty. Both dogs were taken to the vet.
Rescue Dogs Rock NYC agreed to take care of both dogs. Co-founder of Rescue Dogs Rock, Stacey Silverstein said they never leave a dog behind.
Once Benny is stronger, both he and Betty will go to New York in the hopes of finding a forever home!
