Disturbing footage was obtained by Pittsburgh's local news station, WTAE Action News 4, that shows an employee at Canine Club in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania, physically abusing a St. Bernard dog with vigorous punches to the canines head.
The shocking video clip shows the St. Bernard outside with two Canine Club employees when the dog begins to show some signs of aggression, jumping up on both the male and female worker. After running up to the male employee, the man pins the canine to the ground and serves the St. Bernard multiple punches to the head.
While sitting on top of the dog, the employee continues to throw aggressive punches until the large dog becomes stable. According to WTAE News, the video was found after an animal cruelty investigation was issued following the incident. Last December, the employee was charged with animal cruelty charges that he was found guilty of on Wednesday.
However, the Canine Club has been declaring that the surveillance footage was wrongly taken out of context. ‘First of all,’ says the scrutinized daycare and training facility, ‘people’s quick conclusions about the video, when the dog was jumping up, he was growling and attempting to bite the face of our staff member. The dog was not ‘trying to play.’ The dog continued to growl and bite even when he was on the ground. The other staff members, including those in the video, became afraid of the dog and didn’t try to help.’
