If you didn’t already know — dogfighting is an absolutely brutal sport. Everyone once in a while we get a heartbreaking example of exactly how damaging dogfighting can be to the poor dogs and puppies who are forced to get involved in it. This little pit bull has experienced the pain of dog fighting.

She showed up at a shelter with grievous injuries

A whole side of her head was covered in open wounds, and part of her left ear had been removed.

The shelter began making plans to euthanize her. But sadly, this girl’s pain didn’t end there. Her wounds ruptured and she started to lose massive amounts of blood.

Two rescue groups, Dallas DogRRR and Second Chance Rescue NYC heard about this poor dog, who was named Addy, and they worked hard to save her life.

Dallas DogRRR picked her up in the morning and got her to Country Brook Animal Hospital.

Carrie DeBord saw a post about Addy that Dallas DogRRR made on their Facebook page, and she reached out to foster the hurting dog.

Amazingly, Addy survived her stint in the hospital, and she got to go live with Carrie.

Carrie had to keep Addy isolated so that she could heal from her wounds and surgeries.

For months Addy only ate antibiotics and pain medications. She could barely move, and constantly had to return to the hospital.

All through that time, though, no one gave up on Addy, and she really did begin to make a full recovery.

After four months, Addy began to socialize with other dogs. She got happier, and more loving.

She doing well now, and soon she’ll be looking for a permanent home! Amazing!
