The country of Turkey is full of kind and compassionate people! They are having a harsh winter with very cold temperatures and heavy snow. Did you see the story about how three people put food and blankets out for some stray dogs? Well, the man in this story is helping the homeless cats near his shop in Istanbul, Turkey!

His name is Selcuk Bayal, and he owns a stationery store. With the help of other locals, Bayal has been caring for some stray cats. When the temperatures dropped, he stepped up and opened his store as a refuge.

He graciously feeds the cats and cleans up any messes. A lot of people are praising him for his generosity. Other people have no compassion at all and have voiced their concerns.

Bayal put up a sign telling people that if they are not comfortable with cats they shouldn’t shop in his store. The cats only come in the store when the temperatures are cold.

Who would deny a helpless animal shelter from the cold? A coat of fur doesn’t mean that cats (or dogs) are cold tolerant. They are warm blooded creatures.

Thankfully, Bayal is willing to take care of the cats. Many of his customers enjoy spending time with the kitties too. Everyone’s favorite spot?

Right in front of the heater! I for one am glad to see that Bayal is willing to lose some business to help out the cats. I bet the cats are happy about it too!

Share away, people!
