Police arrested a Mission, Texas man on Thursday morning after a video showing him dragging his dog behind a motorized scooter surfaced.

According to Lt. Jody Tittle with the Mission Police Department, the incident happened on the 3000 block of the Sierra Court at about 6:20 pm on Wednesday.

Melissa Torrez explains to Valley Central news that she was leaving her home when she spotted her neighbor committing this horrific act of animal cruelty

“I turn around. I see him dragging his dog from the middle of the street all the way to second driveway. I’m out of my car yelling at him, asking him, ‘what are you doing? What’s wrong with you?’ And he just keeps going telling me to mind my own business, it’s his dog he can do whatever he wants,” said Torrez.

Lt. Tittle says Torrez saw the man dragging the helpless German Shepherd behind him for about two blocks.

Mission police said they received hundreds of calls from other concerned citizens, which prompted their quick action.

Further investigation led officers to 59-year-old Mario Cardona, who has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty. His bond has been set at $10,000.

The female German Shepherd remains in Animal Control’s custody and is reported to be healthy and doing well.

Can you believe this man would inflict such horrific pain to his dog?
